Introduction
Like the name suggests, this RP is based on the third season of Digimon, known as Digimon Tamers. That is, the world works very similarly. Unlike many things that happened in the first two seasons, Tamers actually (for the most part) explains to you how everything works and it makes sense. I want to keep this RP as sensible as possible and agreeing with science (at least as much as Digimon can).
This means that when Digimon breach the barrier between worlds, they bio-emerge. Electrical energy is used to arrange the molecules in the air into a foggy cloud and then arranged into synthetic proteins, a live Digimon.
Characters in the RP will most likely know about Digimon prior to the events, as the first two seasons of Digimon (Adventure and Adventure 02), the various video games, and the card game.
Hypnos exists in this world as well, but are concentrated on deleting the Digimon and the Digital World. They use a tool that runs a program designed to interfere with their data. (Still without a name)
All of the human characters of Tamers do not exist in this universe, no Takato, no Yamaki, etc. The D-Reaper incident never happened, so Digimon have not yet done anything incredibly dramatic in the real world. Now that you understand the universe a little better, let's move onto the characters.
General RP Rules
We're all intelligent human beings here. You know what conduct is expected of you in a place like this, I shouldn't have to explain it. Be nice to your fellow RPers, don't control someone elses character without permission or godmod as they say, and make decently developed posts (spelling and grammar).
Mild language isn't offensive to me but try not to go overboard, and obviously stay away from the words on the filters. Keep everything relating to "adult" content off of the site, Digimon don't do that, after all!
Doing something that you aren't supposed to will result in just a polite warning the first time. As long as you take heed and avoid making the same mistake again, it will be forgotten. I'm too much of a hippy to hold grudges and I want to be friends with you.
Every person need only have one account and can have as many characters as they can keep active. If I find that you are just creating characters and not using them I will simply delete them (after warning you beforehand, of course). Otherwise, major plot characters will have their own account.
If you aren't sure of anything, don't hesitate to PM me.
RPing as a Tamer
You don't have to be a fan of Digimon before becoming a tamer, but it makes the most sense that way and I suggest you make it that way.
You can acquire your D-Power any way you like, as long as it comes from some sort of electrical energy (no "poofing" out of thin air if you are in the woods). Your D-Power can have any alternative color you like (the button, the ring around the screen, and the strap), it doesn't have to go along with your Digimon. You will soon after receive your Digimon, which must come from a Bio-Emergence. It can start off as a Rookie or any stage lower.
The tamer's Digimon can digivolve to Rookie any time after starting. This is noted by the post count system for members. This is why double posting is forbidden!
0 posts - Rookie
20 posts - Armor - The tamer acquires a "Special" Card. It is a "Digimental" card, and it must make sense for your chosen Armor level Digivolution. Swiping this card allows your Digimon to reach said level for a period of time. Use one of the cannon armors for this, keep in mind it doesn't have to reflect your character's personality in any way. Just for general reference in the case you aren't using an actual armor evolution, use this:
Courage-fire/dragon types
Friendship-Electric types
Knowlege-Insect types
Sincerity-Plant types
Love-Bird types
Reliability-Aqua/Ice types
Light or Hope-Holy types
There are also Kindness, Miracles, etc., but for the sake of this RP, all armor levels will be the same in power. That means you can't go around with a Magnamon and destroy ultimates with ease like he could in the show.
Keep in mind these aren't set in stone and the cannon Armor evolutions deviate from this. Check the digimon wikia in case you aren't sure.
Ex. Tamer has a Veemon. At 20 posts he gains the Digimental of Friendship Card (adds it to profile) and can swipe it to Digivolve to Raidramon.
40 posts - Champion - The tamer acquires a "Special" Card. It is a "Digivice" card, a different color depending on what attribute your champion is. Yellow for virus, Green for Data, and Red for Vaccine. Swiping this card allows your Digimon to reach Champion level.
80 posts - Ultimate - The tamer acquires a "Special" Card, this time being the cannon Blue Card. The algorithm written in the card allows your Digimon to reach Ultimate Level.
120 posts - Mega - The tamer acquires his last "Special" Card, my own creation for this RP, the Violet Card. Very similar to the cannon Blue Card, except it allows the Digimon to reach the final level. Your character can also Biomerge with the Digimon or use a Mode Change for an alternate, more powerful Mega level, but ONLY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD.
Your Digimon lines can include anything that make sense. The armor levels can be any Champion digimon, again providing that it goes along with your Digimon and the Digimental of your choice. That being said, Armor levels will be weaker than a Champion regardless.
You can pull a Takato and create an original Digimon to use as well. Just make sure to provide sufficient description or even better a drawing.
A tamer's D-Power Digivice has a variety of functions. You can use it to scan Digimon for information on them, track Digimon or other D-Powers, and most importantly, swipe cards. You can be awarded cards from the card shop and you add Special cards to your profile when you level up. For the purpose of this RP, a non-cannon function has been added, that is the storage function like the Digivice iCs. This way, Tamers can keep their digimon safe from Hypnos (as well as less consipicuous to everyone else), but to fit inside they must be Rookie or lower.
Under the circumstance that a tamer's Digimon is deleted, that is it's data is completely erased and cannot be reconfigured into an egg, then you can become a tamer of another Digimon. This can be another RPer who is playing as a Digimon, in which case would have to remain at it's current level until the necessary cards were acquired.
If a Digimon is destroyed, but it's data is not absorbed/deleted, then it can be reconfigured into an egg, but the tamer must go to the Digital World to get it.
RPing as an Agent
You work for Hypnos, and will take orders from the Hypnos leader, or maybe deviate from them a little bit (just don't let him catch you). As an agent, you will not level up like other members. Instead, based on how well you do, the leaders of Hypnos will give you better and more expensive equipment. Remember, since you are a government employee you are an adult, at least in the twenties.
Driving around in black vans, you patrol the city looking for battles and abruptly put an end to them. You will be based in the Hypnos building and will receive missions from there or the hypno's shop. The boss will tip you off to certain jobs or you can find them yourself.
Starting off, you will have a Nithon Pistol. The pistol is not like ordinary guns, it doesn't shoot bullets. Instead it emits a high energy electromagnetic pulse that can disrupt a Digimon's data, effectively killing them. It takes a while to charge up, so you will have to be stealthy to dispatch a Digimon or at least have an advantage that will give you time. The Nithon pistol is a black pistol that looks similar to an ordinary pistol, except it has a computer in it, complete with a screen. (by the way, Nithon is a moon orbiting Yuggoth, the fictional planet that was the name of a deletion program in the original Tamers)
Items you can buy at the market:
Disruptor Bullet- self defence for hypno, one quick, weak and short ranged pulse. used more as a counter attack than and attack because it requires him/her to be really close. kills rookies, but champs or higher survive with injuries
rebooter bullet- since most guns don't effect champs or higher developers created rebooter. doesn't kill but reverts digimon back to rookie/in training/baby
More Hypnos technology to come...
Your job is to delete "Wild Ones," but don't abuse your power. Don't be unfair to an RPer and delete them/their Digimon without permission.
RPing as a Digimon
If you have chosen this path, you don't have a tamer. You are a Digimon living in the Digital World, faced with the threat of Hypnos. You might see all humans as a threat, or you can realize that Hypnos is your true enemy. You might even join forces with certain humans.
System and Rules for Tamer-less Digimon: [credit to AmphyKnight for this system]
Basics:
As you cannot depend on a Tamer's energy to Digivolve, you must do so on your own by collecting Data. You can do this in many ways; picking up "Tumbleweeds," consuming Digital food (as in food from the Digital World,) and, of course, destroying another Digimon and absorbing it.
Data is measured in bytes for practical computer use in the Real World, but for Digimon, who are made living creatures by so much energy that far exceeds even Gigabytes, we will use units simply called "Data Points."
For everything you encounter in the Digital World, there will be a score. Absorbing it will add that score to your own. Once your score reaches a certain point, you will gain the ability to naturally Digivolve into your next form. In a natural Digivolution, you will remain in that form for an indefinite period of time. Heavy damages can cause you to lose a bit of DP, and if you drop below a point in your score, you will be reduced to a previous form.
Limitations:
Land mass and ocean data are off limits. That's protected by the Sovereigns and Digi-Gnomes.
The limit of Data per post is 1.0. It's perfectly accepted to absorb more than this in one post, but then you must wait for however many posts the whole number shows. (In case that wasn't too clear, if you absorb something that is 4.6, you'll have to wait at least four posts before you can absorb anything else.) If you try to absorb more before your body is done "digesting," you will be forced to deposit the excess in the form of "sludge." Ew.
Breakdown:
"Tumbleweeds"- the pink orbs of light that blow about in the wind. You can find them anywhere, especially the wastelands.
DP- 0.1
Food and drink- all kinds, but they must be from the Digital World. Real World food doesn't make the cut.
DP- anything from 0.1 to 0.5. Digimon who bother to offer food will often tell the amount to you, but for rule of thumb, it usually varies with the size or taste.
Digi-Tama- What cruel soul would take this?! (besides, it's not even worth that much)
DP- 1.0
Baby Digimon- Again, why are you even reading this, murderer!?
DP- 1.0 to 1.9
In-Training Digimon- Well, okay, maybe if it's being a brat.
DP- 2.0 to 4.9
Rookie Digimon- These guys can deceivingly tough sometimes, but many are slight pushovers.
DP- 5.0 to 24.9
Champion Digimon- About in the middle. Not too strong, but show them no mercy all the same.
DP- 25.0 to 49.9
Ultimate Digimon- They really ought to be called "Penultimate Digimon," yet they're not slackers by anyone's measure. Newbies beware.
DP- 50.0 to 99.9
Mega Digimon- Trifle NOT with these guys. All they have to do is not like you, and you're dead.
DP- 100.0 to infinity
Other Rules:
Your DP alone has no effect on your strength in a battle. A 5.3 rookie is just as strong as a 10.9 rookie, although perhaps a little less experienced. It only really matters between Digimon of different levels and Megas.
